(What is) the geometry of a haircut and of the soul.

I wasn’t capable of finding a smaller title than this one. Unsure of what is a perfect shape in everything I conclude to the fact that there’s no perfect to what we’re striving to achieve (us) humans. The soul is shaped by the events of life. It’s not something we actively “mold”. Such an activity though happens when creating a haircut. Arts and crafts takes years in mastering -if ever- and there’s pain to that. Especially if you’re a prisoner of “perfect”. It’s ironic that I’m writing these lines while listening to an almost perfect album by the band Genesis from the 70″s.

So who would not agree that a Genesis album isn’t almost perfect? Geometry is perfect. Or the autonomous functions in nature, or on the inside of our bodies. The stars and the constellations are perfectly made. Your favorite cake by your wife’s hands (feels like perfect). The difference is that we get hurt a lot to create masterful pieces of art. We get severely disappointed. When the «geometry»of communication isn’t established with our clients (per se) the work of (craft)-art lies imperfect! Imagine the Genesis performing live in front of an audience of folk music fans. Would they enjoy it the same?

So it’s a matter of perspective. Go with the flow of creativity. The process is the important factor. Enjoy while mastering. While learning. While communicating. It’s not easy. Fantasy is perfect. And that’s the element that connects with our soul directly. We shape things according to our personality and that’s the other trait of the soul, which is called «personal style» or identity. That is also perfectly imperfect and it’s the one that shapes us and defines us, but it can’t be taken away from us..

For me, evolving as a person, as a professional (hairdresser ) and as a human being is an ongoing process with many obstacles and hardship. But it’s also a fantastic voyage. Through the effort I put in mastering my art, I discover new aspects of my identity. Creating shapes and learning new skills or techniques is what can help us advance ahead. Tolerate the adversity in life. Feeding your soul with new ideas and information makes everything looking more interesting. And even if we never achieve the status of “perfect” we are feeling fulfilled for ever trying! It won’t be easy. But let’s fall in love with the process..
